Understanding Wikipedia’s User Base Through the Wikipediasurvey
Wikipedia is one of the most popular and widely used online platforms for accessing information. It is a free encyclopedia that anyone can edit, making it a collaborative effort by millions of users around the world. However, despite its widespread use, little is known about the demographics and motivations of Wikipedia's user base.To address this gap in knowledge, researchers conducted a survey called the Wikipediasurvey to better understand who uses Wikipedia and why. The survey was conducted in 2011 and received responses from over 4,930 Wikipedia users from around the world.
